Veronica Cretu is a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group to Internet Governance Forum (MAG/IGF) since April 2012, and is a member of the National Council for Participation since March 2012. Veronica has joined the World Bank team in February 2012, as a Consultant for the Open Innovation Fund initiatives. Veronica brings in more than 15 years of work experience both in private and in the not-for-profit sector. Veronica worked as a team leader for several national scale projects on Education, Education for Health, etc. Mrs. Cretu worked as an international expert/consultant with the Education Support Initiative of the Open Society Institute, New York, USA. In this capacity she worked in countries like Nepal during 2008-2010, Liberia (West Africa) – 2007-2008, and conducted capacity building programs for national Critical Thinking trainers in Turkey during 2009.
During 2007-2008, Veronica Cretu acted as At Large Advisory Committee Member for South-Eastern Europe within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbering (ICANN) from USA. In 2010, Mrs. Cretu acted as a member of Board Candidate Evaluation Committee with ALAC, ICANN (USA). Veronica has been actively involved in the Internet Governance issues and participated in the 1st and 2nd IGF, by acting as ISOC Ambassador to IGF@Rio. She worked as online tutor/supervisor for the Internet Governance Capacity Building Program with DiploFoundation from Malta during 2007-2009.
Veronica was the main organizer of the EuroDIG 2010 and 2011 in Moldova, thus ensuring the remote participation of Moldova in Pan-European dialogue on Internet governance. Veronica holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and IT, with Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies of Malta. Her first degree is in Foreign Languages, with Moldova State Pedagogical University. Veronica’s main areas of expertise include: Internet Governance, ICT4Development, Communities of Practice, Critical Thinking Methodology, Project Management.
